Autumn. Fall. These words are synonyms. Do either of them excite you? They sure excite me. For most of us, the autumn season is either one group of months surrounding Halloween, or a bitter reminder that the harsh, cold, and blistering winds of winter are coming.

A Trip Down an Eclipsed Memory Lane

There are many things I wish to block out of my memory when I recall my times as a sixth-grader at Pequannock Valley Middle School: the highly exclusive cliques that instigated and perpetuated gossip, the incessant schvitzing due to the lack of air-conditioning in all of the classrooms, and, of course, the awkwardness and self-consciousness that is often attached to the 13-year-old experience.

On Friday, August 26th, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in the small Texas town of Rockport. The storm devastated the area as it made its way inland to Houston, which was inundated with floods and rain, which broke all previous rainfall records for a single storm in the continental US, with 51.88 inches recorded.
