On Tuesday, Feb. 28th, President Donald Trump gave his first address to a joint session of congress. Trump’s speech covered topics including condemning hatred and racism, a military build-up, immigration reform, tax reform, and rebuilding infrastructure.
By the time this article publishes, I will have already turned twenty — well, for all of two days, anyways.
I expected to be more excited than I actually am, but I’ve also seen that the older that I’ve gotten, the more birthdays have turned into more of an obligatory social commitment and a biological timekeeping mechanism, rather than a real celebration of sorts.
This Tuesday, an Amazon storage center in northern Virginia effectively shut down for about four hours. This affected access to many websites across the east coast and, to a lesser extent, the world, including IFTTT, Imgur, SoundCloud, DownDetector, and, perhaps most notably for Stevens students, Canvas.
International Women’s Day celebrates the progress women have achieved in social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. In celebration of Women’s Day, Stevens is organizing a symposium with Women’s Programs and Amnesty International.
A water main break in the intersection of Willow Avenue and Fifth Street flooded several streets Tuesday morning. The sinkhole created swallowed a red Honda CRV, and shut down the Our Lady of Grace Elementary School for the day.
Stevens for Solidarity will be held on Walker Lawn on Wednesday, March 22nd from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The goal is to “unify the members of our campus by imploring all to look beyond party lines, see beyond the red and blue, in order to strengthen Stevens’ resolve to stand against discriminatory federal and municipal policies.”
Poetry Club and Theta Phi Alpha co-hosted a charity event, Planned Poethood, a stand-up poetry event. Poetry Club president Jessica Martin opened up the event with a poem.
This week I’m going to take influence from Soccernomics and take a look at a sabermetric approach to soccer. Specifically, why aren’t more clubs embracing the data revolution in soccer?
