DC has moved away from their gritty and all too serious, dark tone that never really worked so well. They dabbled with comedy in Suicide Squad (2016) and Justice League (2017), but we all know how those turned out.

Jordan Peele delivers yet another captivating and clever horror film with strong rewatchability. Us (2019) follows Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o) and her family as they vacation at their beach house and are met by a family of red-jumpsuit-wearing, gold-scissor-carrying doubles.

The 91st Academy Awards

The 91st Academy Awards happened on Sunday, February 24, and, much like last year, I’d like to use this week’s Spoiler Alert entry to review the results of the films that were nominated that I had previously written about!

Roma

Alfonso Cuarón’s 2018 black-and-white, slow-paced film Roma, follows Cleo, played by Yalitza Aparicio, the live-in housekeeper of a well-off middle-class family in 1970s Mexico, for one year as she traverses love, pregnancy, a violent protest, caring for the family, and coming to terms with a tragic event.
