The Middle Eastern Student Association (MESA) hosted its largest event of the year this past Monday, November 12. The event, a-Rave-ian Nights, gets its name from a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales that were compiled into a book during the Islamic Golden Age.
A-Rave-ian Nights was held in Babbio Atrium and attracted around 30 people. The atrium was decorated with the traditional Middle Eastern flag colors of red, white, green, and black. Face painting kits, stickers, and bracelets were given out for people to decorate themselves. Plenty of authentic Middle Eastern foods, such as hummus, lamb, and shepherd salad, were available to everyone.
While all of this was going on, Antonio Elters, the President of MESA, was DJing the event with traditional Middle Eastern music. There was even a camel cut-out that people could take photos with.
