When I first joined The Stute, I had no intention of ever writing. In fact, I distinctly remember saying, “I’m happy to be here, but please never make me write anything ever.”

The Stute Editorial is an Opinion column written by the current Editor in Chief of The Stute to address and explain editorial decision making, discuss news and media issues, and develop a sense of trust and transparency between readers and members of The Stute.
Last February, I went to my first Stute meeting and two weeks later, I was elected into the layout editor position with the 2022-23 E-board.
For the last year of my life, I’ve wanted out of Hoboken, out of Stevens, out of this bubble of a square mile I’ve called home.
In my last Editorial, I talk about the passing of time, and how my mind is constantly stuck in a state of being pulled between two time periods in my life.
The best thing about being Editor of The Stute is that it keeps me on top of my schedule — who knows what kind of chaos my life would delve into without Google Calendar and The Stute’s Assignment Tracker.
This Valentine’s Day (for some odd reason) I was really excited. I kept mulling over the various festivities planned around the holiday, the seasonal rose/lavender coffee blends, and the decor that encompassed department stores and the like.
A few weeks ago, I, along with my most artistically talented friend, paid a visit to the Whitney Museum of American Art (which by the way, has Pay-What-You-Wish admission on Friday nights!).
Being involved in student organizations is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a Stevens student. It gives us an opportunity to invest our time and energy into something bigger, gives us chances at practicing soft skills, and encourages us to form communities within Stevens and make friends.
Welcome back, Ducks, and happy new year! I hope you all had a restful winter break, and I wish you all good luck for the Spring 2023 semester.
