Mind of a Freshman is an Opinion column written by one or two first-year Stevens students to discuss life experiences during their time at Stevens, and other related subject matter.

Right place at the right time

Sitting on the second floor of the library, I sometimes find myself distracted by the goings-on around me. From people talking to each other to others walking by, for some reason I find it hard to focus.

The coffee stain

A few days ago, I walked into the library after my classes were over for the day to start my homework.

Being who I am

This week has been a whirlwind of events. From sorority recruitment and scholarship applications to Honor Board executive board nominations, it has definitely been a busy week.

Back to the grind

It has been almost two weeks since the start of the new semester and I have already become busier than I was last semester.

Another new beginning

Being able to say that I have officially completed my first semester of college is surreal to me.  Even though I knew this would happen, up until these past few weeks I was in disbelief of how far I had come.

Where’d the time go?

I honestly can’t believe that this is the last week of classes for the semester.  It feels like yesterday I was moving into my dorm and starting a new chapter here.

To be thankful

As I am sitting here in Babbio writing this week’s column, I realized that it has been exactly three months since I arrived at Stevens for my freshman year.

It takes dedication

Coming to this school, I knew that if I wanted to participate in extracurricular activities such as the Honor Board and The Stute, I would have to balance my work and other activities in order to stay afloat.

Bonding at its finest

As a newly elected member of the Honor Board, I have come to learn many of the fine details of the board and how it is run, along with how each meeting is conducted.

The leaves of change

Ever since I was a young girl, I have always appreciated the subtle, or sometimes not so subtle, changes between summer and fall.
