On October 18, Stevens hosted a virtual Commencement to celebrate the Class of 2020. Despite the restrictions of COVID-19, the achievements of the graduates were still commemorated as they were honored in a different way.
Nationally, Latinx Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15. At Stevens, students participate in celebrating Latin Heritage by embracing Latin culture and supporting the aspirations of students with Latinx backgrounds.
On March 17, the student body and the faculty were made aware of the temporary transition to online courses that would later apply to the remainder of the semester.
In a small survey, the Executive Board of The Stute asked for anonymous submissions from graduating students on how COVID-19 has affected their post-graduation plans.
On Friday, May 1, Stevens hosted the annual Innovation Exposition to showcase this year’s Senior Design projects. While this event is usually characterized by seniors placing rows of display tables throughout campus with large crowds browsing their work, this year’s expo was different because of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis: it took place entirely online.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be prevalent everyday, many schools and universities are making decisions to postpone certain activities. On April 21, Stevens announced that the 2020 Commencement ceremony was postponed from the original date of May 20 to October 17.
