Stevens is currently participating in an international recycling competition called RecycleMania. Stevens’ own environmental organizations, ESW (engineers for a sustainable world) and SAVE (Students against violating the Earth), are competing with over 100 other schools from the US and Canada to see who can recycle the most per capita over a designated 8-week period.
In Korea, there is more than one holiday related to love. There’s the traditional Valentine’s day, where it is customary for the female partner to give a gift to the male.
On Monday, February 13, Kim Jong-Nam, the son of late North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, was killed in an airport. CCTV cameras recorded him being approached by two women, who appeared to spray some sort of liquid onto him.
President Donald Trump issued an executive order greatly limiting immigration into the United States on Friday, Jan. 27. Though the administration is hesitant to call it a ban, the order “suspends entry into the United States” for seven particular countries.
Campus Life Committee held a tree-lighting ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season, this past Thursday. The event included a raffle, free hot chocolate, and desserts, as well as entertainment, including Stevens’ very own student-run A cappella group, Quackappella.
Multiple earthquakes were felt worldwide in the days leading up to Nov. 14, 2016. Chile, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and the Philippines all experienced earthquakes leading up to the night of the “supermoon.”
The Stevens Art Club held a workshop on bleaching t-shirts, in Hayden Lounge, this past Wednesday. Attendees only used household items to minimize the materials used and their cost.
Inspired by the 2016 Unites States Presidential election, the College Democrats Club has formed at Stevens. As opposed to the conservative College Republican Club and the neutral Castle Point Politics, the College Democrats Club fills the role of a liberal political club on campus.
Dan Delaney, a Stevens alumnus, is running for the U.S. House of Representatives under the Libertarian Party. His position supports breaking down to what he refers to as the “flawed two-party system.”
