The Pinnacle Scholars Program’s summer stipend alone costs roughly $1,955,000 per year.
That number is an extremely rough estimate, based solely on the number of Pinnacle Scholars and the value of the stipend, but it provides some insight into the overall cost of the Pinnacle Scholars Program.
The Pinnacle Scholars Program is the Stevens equivalent of an honors college, though it operates rather uniquely compared to most honors colleges at other schools. This is why SITTV News has been conducting an investigation into the program over the past couple months, with the goal of gauging how students feel about the program and uncovering as much information as possible. For those unaware, SITTV used to run a weekly news show about campus happenings, which unfortunately stopped production a few years ago, and this special report will spearhead its return.
After months of conducting surveys, interviewing students, digging for statistics, and emailing administration members, the investigation has finally come to a close. The results will be compiled into a news video this upcoming long weekend, with some of the main talking points being the cost of the program (in more detail than the above tidbit), the selection process, perception of the program across campus, and much more. If you’re interested, stay tuned for its release in the near future! If you’re dying to have your voice included, fill out the survey or email the producer at akinney@stevens.edu!
