Dollarita regret

Once upon a time, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar™ was hosting an incredible deal. One dollar margaritas! If any of you can find a deal to beat this, please feel free to email me any time of any day. But back to the topic at hand, this last weekend, I had the pleasure of moseying my way down to an Applebee’s with some close friends — some may be high-ranking members of this very newspaper, while some may not (I will not name names). We sat down after a long day of hard work and needed something to lift our spirits, and like a shining banner, the waitresses’ shirt had the words “Dollaritas are back” on it. We knew what we had to do. I should preface the rest of this by saying that everyone involved in the long weekend shenanigans are over the age of 21.

I know two weeks ago, I was expressing my displeasure with never being ID’d even though I had a brand new shiny license to show to the world. But now I can proudly say that I have been ID’d once — it was at an Applebee’s, but it still happened!  And so the night began; we ordered our first round of dollaritas and some snack food for the table, and they were delicious. I will not elaborate on the rest of the night, but the title should tell you enough.

But the night brings me to a concern I’m facing. Being a senior, I am currently working my way through my last long weekends of college, so I really feel obligated to make the most of them. Looking back on all my years, I feel like I would opt to spend my long weekends getting back rest from the long hours that come with being a full-time student, but the last year or so, I have made an effort to spend them with the people I enjoy being around. I get busy, and who cares if the experiences are good or bad? It is nice to spend them in the company of friends, families, or other loved ones.

At the end of the day, even though I experienced what some call “dollarita regret,” I think it was for the best. I mean, I got a whole column out of it! So it couldn’t have been the worst decision I’ve ever made. I think my piece of advice for this week is that even though you’ll have “regrettable” experiences throughout your time at college and all of life, they are all just experiences that you will be happy to have had happen 10 years from now. So go out and make the best decisions you can, but don’t linger on the bad ones for too long because they do not matter in the grand scheme of things.
