What’s in my beauty bag right now…

As of late, the trend on the internet has been skincare routines and beauty hacks. Social media is currently saturated with TikTokers and influencers preaching their personal tried and true routines. Whether it be from hair products and t-shirt drying for perfectly bouncy curls, or the best mascaras on the market, or skincare brands that are dominating over their competitors, so much information is out there. Now obviously, I am no influencer, not even in the slightest. Actually, I am not even active or present on most social media platforms. Each of these trends I did not discover myself; they found their way to me by something other than the posts of an influencer. Here are a few popular products I am loving today.

I believe mascara is the most essential product in our make-up bags. A look can be finished without eyeliner, eye shadow, or blush. But no look is complete with mascara (unless of course, you’ve invested in a lash lift or extensions). Eyelashes to me are the key to beauty, and they are a tool that must be used wisely. Long, luscious, and voluminous lashes are how you harness that tool, and the make-up brands know this. For years, I have been religiously looking for the best mascaras and the best combinations of mascaras… at one point I was using a combination of four different brands. But alas, the best mascara to hit the market (in my opinion) has taken the internet by storm. The L’Oreal Paris Telescopic mascara is actually the BEST thing since sliced bread. For around $9 at Target, this tool has completely altered my beauty game. Promising up to 60% longer lashes, L’Oreal truly does not let us down with this one. From what I have heard, it has been a rave all over social media as well. I heard about it from my sister, who of course, saw it on TikTok.

The primer & Telescopic combo from L”Oreal. Ultimate duo.

A little further in the world of eyelashes, to further boost the key to beauty is a primer. I use the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Primer right before applying the Telescopic Mascara, and it surely works wonders. The primer is a white base that goes on your lashes first (obviously). It seems a little weird to put white mascara on your lashes but all it does is lengthen those bad boys. Right after, I apply the Telescopic Mascara, which is a little peculiar. The brush is quite thin and flimsy but still works perfectly. This combination is sure to have a place in my make-up bag for years to come.

Other beauty products I personally swear by are many of the Not Your Mother’s hair products. Not Your Mother’s is not only a reputable brand, but also a company that uses natural ingredients (meaning no sulfates, no dyes, no parabens, no silicones, and no gluten). It’s hard not to get behind this brand. I have tried several of their products from Curl Talk to Clean Freak. However, my personal favorites are All Eyes on Me, the 10-in-1 Hair Perfector. I use this before applying heat to my hair and it prevents my hair from burning, looking damaged, and more than just that! The 10 instant benefits it claims to have include: adding body, detangling, adding shine, protecting, moisturizing, controlling frizz, repairing dry hair, heat protection, mending split ends, and creating silkiness. Seems like a lot for one product but I can attest to its benefits. It is nice to have a product that truly does it all.

In addition, I SWEAR by Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe texturizing sea salt spray with dead sea salt and sea kelp. This product promises to “add texture and grit for tousled waves with a matte finish” (straight from the bottle). In summer, this is my go-to product to get a careless yet voluminous look for any occasion, whether I am going out running errands or going out in town with friends! I just spray a couple of puffs into my hair at a distance and then fluff my hair and scrunch it a little bit. It gives you perfectly careless beach waves, an ideal look for the summer. Both of these products are under $10 and can be found at your local Target or beauty store.

Finally, one last beauty product that has proven to be worth my while is Elf’s Hydrating Face Primer. I suffer from dry skin, especially in the winter months, and applying this to my face before applying my make-up has made all the difference. Not only does it allow for a fresh face helping your make-up to last longer, but it simultaneously hydrates your face. Their formula is infused with grape, and vitamins A, C, & E. Elf is known to be on the cheaper side of makeup products, but they should not be overlooked! For a small bottle of this primer, it’s only $6! The quality has surprised me. Before recently, I was skeptical of Elf’s products because their brushes surely let me down (cheap in price and quality). However, I cannot say the same for the primer. On top of it all, they are cruelty-free and vegan, which certainly makes me happy.
