Stevens Traditions: The Freshman Dodgeball Tournament

Early in September of every year, the Office of Residential Education hosts a dodgeball tournament, pitting each of the freshman dorms against each other in a color-coded, ball-dodging blast.

The event takes place in Walker Gym, led by RAs from each dorm. Any freshman residents are welcome to partake. Each dorm is assigned a color, and participants are asked to wear as much of their assigned color as possible when playing. In the past, a bracket system has been used to manage scoring, and it is likely this system will be adopted once more for this year’s event.

“There’s no other event like it,” said former RA Koby Garcia, “and it encourages building pride and brings the students closer together as a community.” So if you find yourself looking for some lighthearted fun to help you get used to life at Stevens, keep an eye out for your RA’s announcements about this fun-filled yearly tradition.
