Duck Dance music video released

Earlier this week, the official Duck Dance music video was released on the @stevensstudents Instagram account. The video, which features the Duck Dance song, prominently shows writer of the song Josh Pirog, Attila the Duck, and other undergraduates lip syncing to the song and performing the Duck Dance.

The Duck Dance was a product of the Campus Traditions Committee, a committee formed in October 2017 by Sara Klein, Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs.

“I also felt like we needed a few more traditions that students could look forward to every year, and I also wanted them to be spread out more throughout the year,” Klein said in an interview in September 2018.

During orientation, Stevens introduced the Duck Dance to first-year students. Shortly after orientation, work began to create a music video.

“We were all just having a lot of fun at Orientation this past August, and the Duck Dance craze was catching on, and we thought it would be fun to document it and have a music video to show to future students,” said Klein in an email statement.

Pirog and Koby Garcia, a student who filmed and directed the music video, began planning the scenes and worked swiftly to begin filming.

“The majority of the larger scenes were filmed on one afternoon,” said Lucas Gallo, former President of the Student Government Association, who was seen in the video. “Josh and Koby put in more work after that to complete the video.”

Pirog and Garcia could not be immediately reached for a last-minute comment.

Once the video was finished and published on Instagram, the comments poured in.

“This is amazing,” wrote Zach George, a recent alumnus. “Ayyyy,” wrote the Stevens Fencing team. “This better be played at Founders Day,” wrote Rajiv Boodram.

“It was really impressive to see all the work that Josh and Koby put into the song and video,” said Gallo. “It was great to see everyone goof around while we made the video.”

“I love it,” said Klein.  “I think Josh and Koby did an amazing job — it’s quirky, and funny, and it will live on in Stevens history forever.”
