Office of Residence Life hosts “Plate of Culture”

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, the Office of Residence Life hosted “Plate of Culture” in Jacobus Lounge. The event was meant to educate students about various cultures and how they celebrate their respective holidays. The ethnic clubs in attendance were the Black Student Union, the Latin American Association, the Filipino Association of Stevens Tech, and the Chinese Student Union. While they did have free food, students had to participate in each club’s activity in order to earn it. Guessing Latin American countries’ flags and writing in Chinese calligraphy were some of the activities at the event. The food that students earned included rice and beans, beef patties, dumplings, and dried mangoes. There was also a tree at the entrance of the event where students could write their favorite holiday on a tag, and then place it on the tree. The event had a large turnout and was an overall success.
