Finally. A MacBook that actually looks like Apple tried to innovate the product as opposed to the reskinning and size changes we have been used to for the last few years. This was announced yesterday along with Touch Bar, a new feature that will be implemented in the new MacBook Pros.
It would appear the Reddit rumors were somewhat true. There is the Touch Bar feature which is essentially a touch-sensitive LED display that replaces the row of function keys. Featured on the Touch Bar are familiar icons such as volume, time, name, and even some unexpected items such as emojis and photos. I am truly excited for this feature despite the fact that we will probably have flying cars driven by pigs before I buy a new laptop but, hey, that’s me.
Despite the Touch Bar being the most popular feature in this new product, Apple makes even more changes to the MacBook Pro.
I’ll save you the Google search. Yes, they tweaked the size and weight of the laptop. Surprise, it is smaller and lighter than the previous one. The laptop still comes in only two sizes; thirteen and fifteen inches. Sorry, no seventeen inch this year. I don’t think I have ever been happier at an Apple reveal. There is just the right amount of new features and tweaks that I feel worth their price, and at the same time making the laptop more mobile. An important characteristic for a student like myself.
Overall, I think Apple impressed me and many others this time around and I am very excited to see the new MacBook in person.
