Multiple administrators leave Stevens in past months

From last June to as recent as this week, multiple administrators at Stevens Institute of Technology have retired or left the University for another position.

Last year on June 30, Lisa Dolling, Dean of the College of Arts and Letters, left for another university, where she took a position as a tenured professor, Provost, and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dean Dolling taught at Stevens for 11 years, and served as dean for six years. During her tenure, she was responsible for the creation of the Writing and Communications Center (WCC), the introduction of the CAL-103 / CAL-105 “Freshman Experience” program, and the creation of the new Science and Technology Studies program.

Later on November 2, University Vice-President and Provost George P. Korfiatis announced his plans to step down and return to his faculty duties. Provost Korfiatis will leave his position September of this year, and the university has already formed a search committee for a new Provost. Coming to Stevens in 1986, and becoming Provost in 2006, Provost Korfiatis helped with the creation of new curricula in Biomedical, Systems, Naval and Information Systems engineering.

Soon thereafter, Michael Bruno, Dean of the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science, stepped down for a position of Vice Chancellor of Research at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. Dean Bruno came to Stevens in 1989 and oversaw the merging of engineering and science faculty into a single school. He also co-authored the 2012-22 Strategic Plan.

The next administrator to step down was Dr. Christos Christodoulatos, the Vice Provost of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Simultaneously, the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship was merged with the Office of Research under Vice Provost Mo Dehghani. Vice-Provost Christodoulatos served in his position since 2008, and will continue to remain on faculty as the director of the Center for Environmental Systems, and as a senior Innovation and Entrepreneurship advisor.

Ceila Llano, the manager of the Student Service Center, retired this month, after being a member of the Stevens community for 15 years. Finally, this week University Registrar Thomas Castiglione left his position that he has held since mid-2014. The University is in the process of forming a search committee to find a new registrar. In the meantime, Associate University Registrar Maria Di Stefano will be working to ensure the Office of the Registrar remains operational.
