Melting and sweet: Alpha Phi Omega hosts s’mores event

On Wednesday, April 8 at 9:00 p.m., Alpha Omega Phi, the service fraternity at Stevens, hosted a S’mores event in Jacobus Lounge. Inside the lounge, marshmallows, graham crackers, Hershey chocolate bars, chips, and soda were laid on the tables. Many came and took multiple of these at once while the grill outside was heating up.

At the beginning, the absence of skewers caused disorder throughout the event. Outside, you could see people holding marshmallows directly on top of the flame, ignoring the obvious fire hazard. Luckily, the fire extinguisher was not far from the grill outside. Once someone arrived with skewers, the event flocked outside. Many crowded around the grill, waiting for marshmallows to burn so that they could finish their deliciously sweet concoction.

The event was a mostly a way for the brothers and sisters to network and socialize. When asked why freshman Bailey Fiscus was there, he said, “I’m really interested in joining [Alpha Phi Omega] next year.”
