Come enjoy Boken with a new twist!

Boken is an annual event held on campus which is hosted by both the Entertainment Committee and the Student Government Association. This year’s vice president of SGA, Ashley Tomasura, is co-chairing Boken along with Brandon Griffin. The purpose of the event is to create a spring festival on campus to celebrate Stevens and Hoboken. The actual event is different every year in order to keep things interesting and festive. Usually it is a carnival or a boardwalk, but this year, the board for Boken decided to change things up and create a murder mystery.

Usually the events hosted by Boken take place outdoors. However, this time, the event is indoors. “It is going to be very fancy this year,” says Ashley Tomasura. “There will be some very cool prizes and all Stevens students are invited even if they didn’t sign up beforehand.”

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25 inside Walker Gym. There will be a “casino” and games set up for students. Students will win tickets which they can use to get t-shirts or guess who the murderer is for prizes. The event will then transition into Schaefer gym where the area will be designed like an old mansion. “Students won’t even be able to tell it’s the gym,” says Tomasura. There will be a show set up while students are having dinner. Appetizers, dinner, and desert will be served. At the end of the event the murderer will be revealed, and whoever guessed right, will receive prizes.

All the actors that are part of the “murder mystery” are Stevens’ students from Stevens Dramatic Society or Off Center. They were cast after auditions were held by the board for Boken. “Everyone is encouraged to dress the part,” says Tomasura. “It’ll make things more fun and there will also be a costume contest that night.”

A lot of effort and hard work went into designing the event. All students are encouraged to come out and enjoy a fun carefree night before finals begin. It is time Stevens shows their school pride and spirit by truly celebrating what makes Hoboken and Stevens so beautiful in the Spring.
