Students, faculty surprise President Farvardin for 1,000 days in office

On March 26th, 2014, President Nariman Farvardin strolled down Whitpenn Walk to meet with 35 guidance counselors from the Washington D.C. area in the Babbio Center Atrium. Mayor Dawn Zimmer and Chief of Staff Beth McGraff accompanied him, but not to talk with the guidance counselors. Instead, they accompanied him solely for the purpose of ensuring he got to the Babbio Atrium. And instead of guidance councilors, the Babbio Atrium was filled with students and faculty congratulating him on his 1000th day as president. President Farvardin took his post as the seventh President of Stevens Institute of Technology on July 1, 2011.

“I am speechless,” said Farvardin, “I am grateful in ways I can’t describe in words.” Waiting along with the students and faculty were 4 separate cakes, three tubs of ice cream, and various drinks from Starbucks. Ashley Montufar gave a short speech commending President Farvardin when he arrived. Dave Zimmerman helped invite students and faculty, as well as setting up the food and general ambiance. Beth McGraff has been putting together a list of Farvardin’s accomplishments and planning the event for the last month.

A list of his accomplishments over the past 1000 days can be found here.
