I did exactly one thing last weekend: study for my first Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics quiz. On Saturday, after five weeks of internally panicking, I very quickly began externally panicking, which was then followed by 36 hours of learning what I probably should’ve been keeping up with throughout the weeks prior to the quiz.

On a freezing day in early February, I met with Wyn Barnum, Ricky Dana, and James Fusco, the musical creators of Phoneboy, the band behind “Acid Girl,” a song that could warm up any northeast blizzard and was responsible for the most memorable social media moment in local music last year.

Songs with a duration of under three minutes can be found in almost any album released in 2018, and statistics from Billboard Charts confirm this trend: the average song length of songs on the Hot 100 in 2018 was 3 minutes and 30 seconds long, dropping from 3 minutes and 50 seconds just five years prior.
