Mind of a Freshman is an Opinion column written by one or two first-year Stevens students to discuss life experiences during their time at Stevens, and other related subject matter.
As the pile of laundry on my bed grows and the amount of concern I have over who sees it dwindles, I’ve begun thinking, “Is this home?”
Here at Stevens Institute of Technology, there are all sorts of people. As you walk around, you may not be able to tell.
This week I’ve been experiencing the weirdest sensation; it’s not painful, but never have I felt more like a child. I constantly put my fingers in my mouth, biting down, because I can feel my wisdom teeth coming in.
I feel kind of sick. I don’t mean to make this week about my mental health, but I’m not taking care of myself, and I have to recognize the things I’m doing wrong right now to make better choices later.
Allegedly, there are two types of people at this school. The first kind are people who wanted to come to Stevens: it was their first choice school and they applied early decision.
Last weekend was the first time that I stayed on campus the entire time. For all three days, literally no one was around.
“Do you feel different?” a few people asked me, rhetorically, after my birthday last week. Surprisingly, I do feel different. Not because of my age, but because I visited my high school last weekend for homecoming.
I’m turning eighteen on Sunday! I’m very excited. I know I won’t feel any different, but there are a lot of new things I’ll be able to do.
After much consideration, I felt like my column was getting too deep. So, this week I wanted to share how I make the most of the unlimited meal plan and save money going to the city.
