It’s my birthday week, and I have been getting into the spirit by listening to some music that has always been comforting to me.

I am now far enough into semester two where I can reflect on how much I’ve changed since the first one.
Recently, I have become obsessed with Ethel Cain. She is an incredibly pioneering musical project by artist Hayden Anhedönia. Ethel Cain is a character created by Hayden, who is experimenting with the uncanny.
I usually think the Grammys are superficial, and they don’t really determine the worth of an individual’s art. I think of the Grammys as something that turns a person’s art into a product.
Tis the season for warm sweaters, jovial gatherings, and of course, festive music. For many, walking around stores with frenzied family members is relieved with the joyous music that plays on the speakers, but there is one song that some people would do anything to avoid… “Last Christmas” is a song originally recorded by pop duo Wham and played over 5 billion times since its original release in 1984.
My creativity comes in waves. I will have a week where I am constantly creating, and then next week, it feels like I have to scrape the sides of my brain with a spatula in order to get anything out.
When I write music, I think about myself as a poet first; every aspect of what I create is a revolving force around whatever feeling I am experiencing at the time.
Approaching Halloween season is like my super bowl. I’ve spent all year patiently waiting for October, and spooky season. Eagerly planning, costumes, movies, and of course, my playlist.
Starting a band has been my biggest goal since before coming to Stevens, I’ve wanted the opportunity to start really putting myself out there.
Art is created through the things we experience as people, each piece of art is a representation of a story, even when there isn’t one.
