The Stevens Forensics Team heldĀ its first interest meeting last Wednesday in the Fielding Room on the third floor of the Howe Center. The team is headed by Stevens student Jimmy Raleigh, who has been involved with speech and debate for a few years now. TheĀ team would be the first of its kind at Stevens.
The Forensics Team’s mission is simple: to draw like-minded students who have a passion for Model UN, debate, or just public speaking in general, and give them a place where they can hone and perfect their craft, as well as compete against others. Because the club is in its formative stage, the team may lean towards being more of a Model UN-esque club or a traditional debate team. Either way, the possibilities of having proper training sessions and going to national conferences are very much there.
Although paperwork is still being filled out with the administration and nothing is finalized yet,Ā the Forensics TeamĀ will fill a nicheĀ for those interested in improving or continuing to improve their public speaking skills and general knowledge of the world. For more information, keep an eye out for more flyers as the club goes through the final stages of RSO approvalĀ by the Stevens administration.
