For the second year in a row, the Office of Undergraduate Student Life brought awareness of intimate partner and domestic violence to campus. Last semester, members of the Stevens community took a stand against relationship and sexual violence with “Take Back the Night.”
Last year’s “Purple Thursday” encouraged students, faculty, and staff to wear purple shirts during the month of October to acknowledge Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This year Stevens participated in “It ends now.”
Student Life sold long-sleeved purple shirts which read, “I pledge never to commit, condone, or remain silent about intimate partner, sexual or relationship violence,” with a line for participants to write their names as a visual commitment of support.
There was also a bra donation box set up in the Office of Undergraduate Student Life for gently used garments which will be donated to women in need at the Passaic County Women’s Center. Donations will be accepted until the end of the first week of November.
