Favorite hangout spots on campus

The Stevens campus, along with the surrounding Hoboken area, is a lovely little city situated along the Hudson River. With how the campus is positioned, it brings forth a lot of nice places to hang out, both on and off campus. With all of this in mind, it raises the question of what is really the best hangout spot on campus?

As a sophmore, I have familiarized myself with almost the entirety of campus. The campus is a cool place, and it has a lot of nice places to either sit and read a book, study, or goof off with friends, which can make picking the absolute best hangout spot across the entirety of campus a bit difficult.

With that in mind, the absolute best hangout spot on campus is definitely the bridge connecting both residential towers. Why the bridge? It’s simple. The bridge has just about everything that you would need for any kind of hangout. There are TVs on both floors to watch a show or sports, a ping-pong table, study rooms to get work done, and vending machines for easy snacks.

You can also do your laundry and hang out at the same time, cementing it as the best place to hang out around campus. Not to mention that the bridge is two floors, which gives it a lot of space to do things. While the bridge is the best place to hang out around campus, it’s not the only spot that’s worth hanging out in. Some other nice spots include the first floor of the UCC, being able to grab food whenever you want, and tables to do work and chat with friends over a Yella’s order.

One place on campus that honestly is underrated is Pierce Dining Hall. The TVs have sports or something else playing. There’s unlimited food and drinks and large tables so that you can sit with all your friends in one area. The only problem with the dining hall is that the hours are limited, so there’s only so much time to hang out there. If it’s a pure hangout, no work or any of that kind of stress.

The recreational room on the ground floor of the UCC is a very unknown yet very nice spot to hang out. It’s got a pool table, couches, and beanbag chairs, making it a really relaxing place to be in. However, if you just want to sit and chill, the bleachers by the sports field are a really nice spot, as you get a nice view of Hoboken, and if you’re lucky, you can even catch the sunset.

To put it simply, campus has a lot of great hangout spots, but to really have a fun hangout, the spot where you and your friends hang out is one of the biggest determining factors in the quality of the hangout.
