The writers for Stevens philosophy journal, Palaver, met on Wednesday to have a panel discussion about their Spring 2022 topic, dreams. The journal, available as a PDF or print, includes four prompts on the nature of dreams. For each prompt, a Stevens student and professor wrote a series of essays, responding to the prompt and to their respective pair. The goal of the dialogues and the panel was to be able to deeper discuss the philosophical concepts than if they were approached alone. Andrew Phillips, Professor Sarah Minsloff, Aleks Dimoski, Professor John Horgan, and Professor Nemira Kopp wrote for the journal and Milena Sudarikov, Garrett Kincaid, and Professor Benjamin Ogden wrote and serves as Editorial Board members. Kincaid inspired the topic of discussion, as he has kept a comprehensive dream journal with 60,000 words and nearly 300 entries. During the panel, the speakers responded to audience questions and insights. The group spent much of the time discussing whether dreams have inherent meaning or if any meaning drawn from them is just meaning ascribed. Professor Ogden and the board invited any interested Stevens community members to fill out the form via the QR code in order to read or contribute to the journal in future.
