Over 60 freshmen participated in hall brawls, an annual competition hosted by Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) and Delta Phi Epsilon (DPhiE) which pits freshmen from different dorms against each other in friendly competition and raises money for the Hoboken Homeless Center. This year, SigEp and DPhiE managed to raise roughly $1,000 from raffle ticket sales, donations, and participation fees.
At the event, the five teams of freshmen competed in tug of war, soccer, frisbee, Alaskan baseball, and spikeball.
“I thought the event, although not what we intended with [the] amount of students showing up, was really successful,” said Daniel Raleigh, brother of SigEp and one of the organizers of this event. “We were able to focus on making sure the students that were there had a really incredible time. Next year I would make a stronger push to integrate it with Student Life. I think it’s a really great event with a lot of potential and by joining Student Life we can have more students attend with greater resources from Student Life.”
