Sometimes you just need a little encouragement

I recognize that my recent Editorials have focused heavily on more difficult topics. This time, I want to take a moment to highlight some positivity that has emerged since the release of “Stevens doesn’t know what they have until it’s gone.” Below are anonymous comments from alumni, faculty, and students that have reminded me exactly why I love being part of a newspaper.

“Great reporting in the Stute […] It’s the Stute’s job to keep the administration accountable. Keep up the great work.” – Stevens Assistant Professor

“Lots of respect for this article. I can’t believe they are closing the library for all of spring” – Current Stevens Student

“Damn good editorial” – Stevens Alumnus ‘91

“Thank you for sharing what we could not put into words.” – Current Stevens Student

“Yeah I appreciate you making the decision to write it because sometimes awareness is the only thing that one person can do.” – Stevens Alumnus ‘24

“I would like to express my admiration and thanks for the recent brave editorial in the Stute regarding student frustrations with the Stevens’ Administrations response or lack thereof for their concerns.” – Stevens Assistant Professor

“I really appreciate the way you conveyed the frustrations that many of us have, and I think you concisely depict a problem that I’ve had with not only Stevens but many administrations throughout my experience. I don’t really have any, like, input or anything, but I just wanted to say I appreciated those articles.” – Current Stevens Student

“I offer you my gratitude and appreciation for keeping the fire alive and the paper’s churning – it’s grueling work and under appreciated […] All I can say, is good luck for the future, and great job on everything you’ve done up until now.” – Stevens Alumnus ‘16

“My point is don’t be discouraged when your efforts fail. Keep trying, because even if you don’t get what you want, you will be shaping yourself and hopefully some of the people around you to lean more toward correct and less toward expedient. And if that happens enough, maybe we have some hope.” – Stevens Alumnus ‘94

“We’re here for you […] Hang in there, and remember you are a part of a long line of truth seekers and storytellers.” – Stevens Alumnus ‘97

“Keep your head high, fight for good, and keep your mind open.” – Stevens Alumnus ‘94
