On Friday, September 18, Stevens Women’s Volleyball took on SUNY Oneonta and secured a 3-0 victory. It started when the Ducks took four of the first six points in the initial game due to Oneonta’s technical errors, followed by three aces from first-year Cadence Sturt, pushing the Ducks up to an 11-4 lead. Both sides kept volleying the points, with Oneonta starting to move up to seven points from four, but in the end the Ducks took the first set, with junior Ella Bolland taking four kills among the final 10 of the set.
In the second, Oneonta started ahead of the Ducks with a 7-3 lead. But the Ducks were relentless and chased down the Red Dragons, forcing Oneonta to time out at 10-8. After the timeout, sophomore Julianne Danis scored two aces, along with additional buffering points from the team, pushing them to a 17-9 lead. The final blow came from Sturt, throwing an ace to finish out the set.
In the third set, senior Kileen McNeill, senior Molly Harris, and junior Ella Kraver all had kills early on, with a 16-7 lead after an additional two aces from Sturt. Senior Liz Pederson and sophomore Jenna Hathaway had the final kills of the match.
