TechFest openers and performers announced

Stevens’ Entertainment Committee (EC) announced the full lineup for TechFest 2026, set for Saturday, April 18, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the River Lot. This year’s headliner is British singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri, who will be joined by three student openers —Jorts, ANGELIDIS, and Eve Godin Band— all of whom earned their spots at this year’s Battle of the Bands competition.

TechFest is a Stevens-only music festival hosted each spring in the stretch before finals. The EC-hosted event offers a free outdoor concert at the River Lot, food trucks, inflatables, a photo booth, and giveaways for students.

Chinouriri is a London-based artist who began writing songs at 17 and first gained attention with her 2018 single “So My Darling,” which later went viral on TikTok. Her 2024 debut album, What a Devastating Turn of Events, debuted at number 17 on the UK Albums Chart. She has since performed at Glastonbury and opened for Sabrina Carpenter on the Short n’ Sweet tour, accumulating over 120 million streams across her catalog.

The three openers were selected through EC’s annual Battle of the Bands, held on March 7 in Bissinger. Six student acts competed—Portland Hotel Yard Sale, Desire Lines, Flower Crowns, ANGELIDIS, Eve Godin Band, and Jorts—with audience members who arrived before the start time eligible to vote for their favorites.

Jorts, from Hoboken, NJ, is a four-piece band whose self-described philosophy is “just jort it, twin.” Born, per their EC bio, “in fire, fueled by ire,” the group’s energy resonated with the Battle of the Bands crowd, earning them the longest set on the TechFest bill.

ANGELIDIS, also from Hoboken, NJ, is a four-piece death metal band whose members each have different musical backgrounds. Together they build what their bio described as “crushing, groove-oriented metal songs which tackle the modern struggles of humanity.” Fans of Gojira, Lamb of God, Slipknot, Crowbar, and Rammstein should definitely look out for them at the show.

Eve Godin Band, from Exton, PA, is led by Godin, a freshman at Stevens and singer-songwriter who released an album last summer. Her band — fellow Stevens students Liam, Lindsey, and Ben — debuted at Battle of the Bands before playing a handful of additional campus shows. Fans of Big Thief, Elliott Smith, and Snail Mail will thoroughly enjoy this part of the opener.
