Techfest, Winter Wonderland, and other fun Stevens events!

If you are an incoming student, welcome! I hope you are enjoying Admitted Students Weekend, and thank you for picking up a newspaper! Stevens isn’t just about constant classwork and tests; we also have a ton of exciting events, both on and off campus. From Flock Party, Techfest, Winter Wonderland, Fall Fest, and Founder’s Day Ball, there’s plenty to do throughout the school year. If you are a current student, I hope this article serves as a fun reminder of upcoming events for the current and upcoming semester.

Techfest

Starting with an upcoming event, Techfest is an evening filled with student performances, free food, and plenty of fun. The winners of the Battle of the Bands competition were Jorts, Eve Godin, and Angelidis. These bands will become the student openers for the annual Techfest. Additionally, Rachel Chinouriri will make an appearance, and there will be a Duck Market packed with student vendors selling original products. This year, it’s scheduled to occur on April 18, so go and listen to some fantastic music.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is an excellent way to celebrate Christmas with merry treats like hot chocolate, sugar cookies, and gingerbread men. Last year, the event featured giveaways, ice skating at Babbio, and a Santa competition between multiple frats and clubs. The night concluded with the annual lighting of the Christmas tree, which was paired with live performances of Christmas songs.

Founder’s Day Ball

A hallmark tradition, Founder’s Day Ball is an evening dedicated to celebrating the university’s founding on February 15, 1870. This year, the ball was held at Pier Sixty and featured a cocktail hour, dancing, and photos. It concluded with students picking up a special keepsake item.

Off-campus events If nothing interests you, the Entertainment Committee has plenty of off-campus events to discover. Some of the previous events are the Devils vs. Jets, Wicked, Lady Gaga, and Conan Gray. Tickets, which include transportation, are drawn via lottery and cost $20. Additionally, there are various events from the many clubs and organizations on-campus happening each week. For example, the Ethnic Student Council has held a Unity Carnival, filled with a variety of different cultural foods, games, and inflatables. For incoming students, you can discover these events using DuckLink, Instagram, or by asking any upperclassmen. So go out there, explore these fun events, and build your own community at Stevens!
