As a proud Apple Music user, I am always grateful for the playlists that come out of using the app. You hear a lot of people talk about Spotify playlists and how niche they can get. I’m just happy with my Apple Music recently played playlist that is made just for me, based on my most recent preferences. Here are some songs from my recently played playlist.
The first song is called “Shooting Star” by Audrey Hobart. Audrey is a new artist who is up and coming. She is credited on Gracie Abrams’ songs as she is one of the geniuses behind her music. This song is from her debut album and is truly a gem. It reminds me of the debrief you have with your friends the morning after a night out together. My favorite line is “I fill in the gaps and give it an arc” because I feel like it perfectly explains what it feels like to try and make a dull situation seem like an amazing experience.
The next song is called “Totally” by the band Inhaler. Led by the iconic musician Bono’s son, this Irish band is an intense pop-influenced group. One of my favorite songs is “Totally” because of the contagious chorus and striking vocals. I think this song is super easy to listen to. I know this sounds silly, but some songs require so much out of the listener. This is not one of those songs.
The final song is called “Girl I’ve Always Been” by Olivia Rodrigo. This song is just a classic one of Rodrigo’s songs off of her deluxe album Guts. Using the same chord progression as Simon and Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson,” this song packs a punch of nostalgia and wit. Olivia Rodrigo is one of those artists who is incapable of writing a bad song.
My recently played playlist is full of some of my favorite songs ever. It is a weird combination of genres and artists. I am a true creature of habit so this playlist is consistently on shuffle.
