Welcome back, Stuters! Happy first (and second) week of classes! I hope you are well rested and ready to begin the semester. I must admit I am not, but I am slowly getting back into the routine of things. The beginning of the semester is the best time for our newspaper.
Each Stute member comes in with wide eyes and eager smiles. We are all mostly well-rested and excited to write, copy edit, photograph, or layout. As Editor-in-Chief, I have received an excessive number of Slack messages and emails from those within and outside of the organization. Just in this past week alone, I have received separate messages from twenty people in the organization with ideas/concerns for the upcoming semester. I have also had about five people outside of the organization reach out to find a way to get involved.
Yes, it is a lot to handle, but almost every time it brings a smile to my face. This is the point in the semester when the best ideas are born. These next few weeks, The Stute will host its first Alumni Gala, co-hosted with the Student Government Association (SGA). We have a Copy Editing Mixer, a Valentine’s Day Bouquet Making Event, and of course, Elections. I am wildly excited for all of our events and to get our current Stute staff acquainted with our vast alumni network.
Besides our events, we are actively trying to design and release another set of merchandise available for purchase. We recognized how excited the Stute Staff was with the original idea, and thought we would offer the opportunity again. Our comic artists will be designing the back of the merchandise, and I cannot wait to see what they come up with.
Beyond those updates, The Stute is doing well and has doubled its numbers since this time last year. I am so proud of us and the work and passion we all continue to have for this organization.
If you have not signed up for the Alumni Gala and you are a current Stute member or Alumni, please reach out, and I will provide you with the RSVP link.
But if you are just a reader, I hope you enjoy some of our hard-hitting articles this week and enjoy the puzzle in the back! All love and good luck with the semester, Stuters! There is so much to come!

P.S. The Stute made it to Tokyo, Japan!
