The Men’s Soccer 2023 season has officially ended following their 1-0 loss to No. 13 Amherst College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championships.
On Saturday, November 11, the Ducks advanced past round one, following a 1-1 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). With 22 shots throughout the game, three landed on goal, and senior Fritz Kabeiseman scored Stevens’ lone point, assisted by junior Luca Campbell. In the end, it was their four penalty kicks that kept their season alive, and ensured their spot in the second round of the championships the next day.
On Sunday, November 12, the team fought Amherst College, where they made it to double overtime before seeing a final score of 0-1, with Stevens being the team that fell behind. The Ducks took seven shots, three of which were made by sophomore Brandon Babovic. Two landed on goal, and graduate goalie Justin Cross made 12 saves during the game, a career-high. Yet, none of it was enough to put the team through to the third round of the championships.
The team ends their 2023 season 11-3-6, and 5-0-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference, having won the MAC Freedom Championship. Graduate Bruno Andino and junior Adam Berrocal led the Ducks in goals, scoring six each, and Cross managed 59 saves.
