Let’s talk about McDonald’s hot fudge sundaes. A cup of soft serve vanilla ice cream with a generous topping of hot fudge—simple but delicious. Ben & Jerry’s, Cold Stone, and Mango Mango are the go-to locations for most students seeking dessert, but the next time you are searching for a sweet treat, I highly recommend getting a McDonald’s hot fudge sundae. Not only does it satisfy chocolate cravings, but it does so for under $3. What a bargain!
Last week, I was on my way to McDonald’s to get, you guessed it, a hot fudge sundae. Unfortunately, the brutal wind and dropping temperatures made it less than ideal ice cream weather. Luckily, the cold kept my dessert frozen while I carried it back to Davis, where I could enjoy it in the scorching heat of my dorm room. As I was walking back from Washington street, my hand began to burn from being in contact with the freezing ice cream cup. After switching hands about five times, I decided to use my jacket sleeve to carry it rather than risk frostbite. In retrospect, this sounds a little overdramatic, but it seemed like a very real possibility at the time. So, I pulled my sleeve over my hand and tightened my grip around the cup.
After a few minutes of walking, I looked down to check on my ice cream and found my jacket sleeve to be covered in hot fudge. The lid had not been properly secured onto the cup, and the sticky ice cream fudge combo had melted all over. Realizing that there was nothing that could be done, I continued walking back until I had reached my dorm hall. I then immediately tried to rinse off the mess, thinking my jacket might be waterproof and therefore easy to clean, but that was definitely not the case. So, like any reasonable person, I threw my jacket in the corner of my room to deal with when I no longer had a melting cup of ice cream waiting to be eaten.
Well, the weekend rolled around, and it seemed like there was no longer an excuse to not tackle the problem. Although I am confident in my ability to clean normal clothes, I always feel hesitant when it comes to special materials. So, naturally, I googled “how to wash a puffy jacket.” After reading three articles, I gained the confidence to simply throw the jacket in the washing machine and dryer like the self-proclaimed cleaning experts recommended. Around two hours later my jacket emerged from the dryer as clean as the day I bought it.
I doubt you picked up The Stute looking for instructions on how to do laundry, but if you happen to also have a puffy coat that you have avoided cleaning, now you know it is as easy as washing standard clothing. If you do not own a jacket of this sort, I hope that this has encouraged you to try a McDonald’s hot fudge sundae the next time you are craving something sweet. After all, it must be pretty good since I literally took a break halfway through writing this article to treat myself to one.
