Stevens plans for small, in-person 2021 Commencement ceremonies

According to a recent email sent to all students by Marybeth Murphy, the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, “the planning for commencement 2021 is underway.” Although the faculty is uncertain of the idea of holding large gatherings, they remain hopeful that smaller gatherings will be able to be held while following CDC guidelines.

As of now, Stevens plans on hosting the 2021 Commencement between May 26 and 27 at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. Plans to hold “multiple ceremonies each day that meet New Jersey’s occupancy and capacity restrictions” were indicated by Murphy.

Faculty remain uncertain as to whether interstate travel will be permitted by the time of commencement. In the event this is not possible, Stevens plans to livestream the ceremony so that friends and family from around the world can view the commencement virtually.

These plans are subject to change before May 26, as the State of New Jersey may post updated information in the coming months regarding travel and group restrictions.
