COVID-19 vaccine availability in Hoboken

As the pandemic continues to rage on, the healthcare industry is hard at work trying to meet the massive demand for vaccines.

In an update from February 12, Mayor Ravi Bhalla announced that “the federal government is predicting April as the time frame when the general population could begin to be vaccinated, with a greater vaccine supply anticipated in the coming months.” He continued, “we are currently scheduling appointments for next week for the remainder of 500 second dose vaccines we have on hand, in addition to approximately 100 new weekly first-dose vaccines.”

So far, 1,700 people in Hoboken, NJ have received their first dose, with another 700 having gone to Kearny, NJ to get their first dose. There are another 3,000 Hoboken residents that are either seniors or otherwise high-risk that will be receiving the next doses of the vaccine.

People that are classified as being “high risk” by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) include those that have pre-existing conditions such as cancer or down syndrome, heart conditions such as cardiomyopathies, pregnancy, and more.

Locations currently available include Riverside Medical at 1111 Hudson Street and 609 Washington Street, as well as the Hoboken Department of Health on 308 Willow Street. Additional locations can be found in Union City and Jersey City, including CVS and Rite-Aid. When journalists from patch.com asked about adding a site in Hoboken, a representative from CVS stated that he could neither confirm nor deny whether a site would be opened. As of this writing, all of the CVS locations have been fully booked.
