As of March 25, two new individuals related to Stevens—one student and one staff member—have tested positive for COVID-19. This increases the total number of confirmed cases at Stevens to five.
“Both individuals are self-isolating at home and we wish them a speedy recovery,” said Marybeth Murphy, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, in a recent email to the Stevens community.
The student who tested positive lives off campus in non-Stevens housing and was last on campus on Friday, March 13. They started showing symptoms on Saturday, March 21. The staff member who tested positive was last on campus on Monday, March 16, and became symptomatic on Tuesday, March 17. “Stevens is notifying members of the Stevens community who have been in close contact with these individuals and asking them to self-isolate immediately,” said Murphy. Additionally, Stevens is disinfecting all areas where these individuals were present on campus.
Previously confirmed cases of COVID-19 include two other staff members and one other student.
Stevens urges all members of the Stevens community to self-isolate and contact a healthcare professional if they experience any symptoms of COVID-19. The most common symptoms are fever, fatigue, and dry cough. Community members are also advised to contact Stevens Student Health Services if they test positive for COVID-19.
