Stevens Christian Fellowship promoted to Probationary RSO

The Student Government Association (SGA) voted in favor of promoting the Stevens Christian Fellowship (SCF) to a Step Four (Probationary Status) new Recognized Student Organization (RSO) during the Senate meeting held on November 25. Their new status allows them to request up to $1,000 in a semesterly budget. SCF, which was a Non-RSO prior to entering the New Organization Process, previously failed to pass a vote of confidence from the Committee on Student Interests (CSI) due to major problems with their constitution, as The Stute previously reported. After engaging in dialog with the Senate Rules Committee for the better part of a month, SCF presented a revised constitution which addressed most of the concerns raised during their initial attempt at promotion.

The Rules Committee approved the new constitution via an emoji response vote in their public Slack channel on Friday, November 16, and the CSI voted to recommend promoting them to Step Three later that day. The SCF spent a total of two business days as a Step Three organization following the approval of their constitution before being promoted to Step Four at the SGA Senate meeting.

SCF is notable as the first (and, to date, only) organization that began as a Non-RSO and went on to attain Step Four status. No other pre-existing organization has been promoted to Probationary status. If SCF desires to become a full-status RSO, they will have to present to the Senate after one full year in Step Four.
