Last Thursday, Sept. 27, all of the freshman dorms, including Castle Point Hall, Humphreys, Jonas, Palmer, Hayden, and Davis, participated in the annual freshman dodgeball tournament in Walker Gym. The teams consisted of mostly freshmen, with their RAs either playing alongside them or helping judge from the sidelines. The tournament was run using bracket style elimination to determine the winner. Campus Police served as referees for each match, with Captain Thomas Maggi as the head referee. Residents got very competitive at the tournament, with one RA commenting, “Man, some of these kids have a mean arm.” Residents of buildings that were waiting for their turn watched the spectacle from the top of Walker. “Freshmen with balls are scary,” jokingly commented one of the Jonas RAs, Maryia Spirydonava, about the amount of balls flying around. In the end, Hayden and Davis competed for the winning title. Other buildings were allowed to join the final teams. In the end, Hayden, with their new allies, emerged victorious. The event was sponsored by the Office of Residential Education.
