As the Director of Alumni Engagement, Stacy White conveys a unique and positive attitude towards life during and after a student’s time at Stevens. She believes in seizing any opportunities while studying at Stevens, and her biggest piece of advice can be summed up in one word: involvement.
In her role at the Alumni Office, White contacts alumni and encourages them to continue to stay active with Stevens and their former classmates after graduation. She helps plan several events on campus that help connect alumni to current students; the graduates are able to learn what has and has not changed since they were students at Stevens. Alumni love hearing about what Stevens students are doing, what they participate in, and what Stevens means to them.
Prior to working in the Alumni Office, White was a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. Later, White became involved in non-profit organizations. She is passionate about women’s rights and makes sure to give back to the community as an activist. Donating her time to help others has not only affected the recipients directly, but also helped mold her positive attitude on culture and people. Accordingly, White is passionate about the environment and cultural diversity of New York City including its arts, diverse food options, and its variety of events. Because of this, White has decided to reside in the city. The fast pace of New York is her comfort, and she says that exposure to diversity has shaped her character.
While at Stevens, White also encourages current students to get involved with the many opportunities that Stevens offers. College is the time to experience a different environment other than home, and the proximity to the city leads to a myriad of opportunities that all students should seize. White preaches that Stevens career services is one of the best services offered by Stevens, and students should use the resource as often as possible. Find something you are passionate about, and put in the effort to succeed. By taking every opportunity that Stevens offers, you’ll find yourself more gratified and victorious at the end of the day.
