On Wednesday, September 20th, The Black Student Union (BSU) held their first event of the year, The National Braai Day Celebration, in Babbio Atrium. National Braai Day is the unofficial name for South Africa’s Heritage Day, which South Africa celebrates on Sept. 24. ‘Braai’ is Afrikaans, a language commonly spoken in South Africa, for barbecue. Friends and families all over South Africa spend the day grilling their favorite foods. BSU kept with the tradition and served wings, hamburgers, and hot dogs. BSU thanked everyone for coming, and hoped that they would return to learn more about African culture.
