This past Wednesday I was invited to view the new Stevens website. For what, I’ll leave unlisted — you’ll see soon enough. After viewing the website on desktop and mobile, all I could mentally manage to say was, “It’s about damn time.”
I don’t want to spoil the surprise of the new site (too much) and my privilege of having seen it early, but I can confidently say that this university has finally gotten the website it deserves, to the point where the website may even deserve a better university! I kid, but that’s how impressive the site was.
The design was modern and clean, boasting a clean white background that emphasizes the signature Stevens red, and generally used black. To my joyous surprise, the Stevens logo was actually split into two, with the “Stevens Institute of Technology / Innovation University” text flanking the shield and castle logo, which is inverted in white on a red badge. Beyond that, I’ll keep my descriptions of the rest of the site terse and veiled: there is a much easier way for newcomers to Stevens to access the site; the homepage is slick and boasts cool features; access to clubs’ information has been improved drastically; and Stevens events and “fast facts” are displayed so strikingly that current students may even want to read them.
I know this reads as an ad, but I have received no compensation. 🙁 The website is 15 years overdue and I am excited for the future generations of Stevens. I just hope that the university’s offerings live up to the standards it set with the new stevens.edu.
