Torch Hosts a Tie Dye Event

By Susana Restrepo

Torch Alliance hosted a tie dying event on Palmer Lawn this Wednesday at 1 p.m. Volunteers provided free T-shirts and lessons on how to tie dye a shirt. The shining sun, promise of free T-shirts, and close proximity to Howe attracted many people, Torch members and nonmembers alike, to participate in this activity. The atmosphere was friendly as many mingled on the lawn.

“Torch is about accepting people and providing a safe environment, and this event really reflected those values with people from all over campus joining in to have a good time and make a colorful shirt,” Torch’s future President freshman Courtney Evans commented about the event while her hands were stained from the dye.

“This year we haven’t really had events like this, so having random people just join in was a first for us but we got to meet a bunch of new people and hopefully inform them about Torch.”

Some of the main reasons that Torch held this event was not only to raise awareness for the club, but also to have a fun time while wrapping up the year. The next (and final) event that Torch will be hosting will be Trevor Project fundraiser that will raffle away prizes. Anyone interested on going, undergrad and grad students, teachers, non-Stevens students, are allowed to go to this event.
