The first ever Stroll Yard Show at Stevens, arranged by the Multicultural Greek Council, was held in Jacobus Lounge on October 1. Stevens students experienced an hour long showcase. Our own Nu Alpha Phi and Lambda Upsilon Lambda hosted visiting sororities Lambda Theta Alpha, Mu Sigma Upsilon, Omega Phi Chi, and fraternity Lambda Sigma Upsilon. Alvaro Home, President of the Multicultural Greek Council, stated that the goal of the event was to highlight the art of strolling, which has emerged out of historically black greek letter organizations. At the end of the night, attendees mingled with members of outside organizations that were invited to participate in the show. Overall, the event was successful in sharing the Council’s tradition with pride.
Lambda Upsilon Lambda also organized Values Driven Leadership on October 9 in Bissinger. This was a seminar to help students grow unique visions, demonstrate leadership behaviors, and think critically for decisions based on integrity, excellence, respect, and trust. Guest speaker Fernando Rosario, president and founder of Exeqpath, was invited to present as an expert in the leadership field. His company was John C. Maxwell-approved to deliver many of Maxwell’s seminars during the training process of numerous industries.
“We had about ten members from each organization, about 130 people,” said Erick Valencia, President of Lambda Upsilon Lambda.
This was the first event involving a majority of Stevens Greek groups cosponsoring including Nu Alpha Phi, Phi Sigma Sigma, Theta Phi Alpha, Delta Phi Epsilon, Sigma Nu, Sigma Phi Epsilon , Theta Xi, Chi Phi, Alpha Sigma Phi, Phi Sigma Kappa, and Kappa Sigma. It was a great opportunity for students to recognize the importance of core values in taking the responsibility to improve reality while also empowering those around you.[subjective, needs new closing sentence.]
