On April 4, 2014, following the initiation of their new sisters, the Theta Phi Alpha sorority held a French toast fundraiser.
The sisters worked from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. selling French toast out of the front door of their sorority house in the heavy rain. The French toast went for $3.00 for two pieces, with both bacon and orange juice each costing an additional dollar. The sisters even went as far as accepting orders via phone and email and delivering it through the rain to their customers, provided they lived on Stevens campus.
The proceeds from this fundraising event will go towards helping sisters make it to their national convention, a yearly event that gathers sisters from Theta Phi Alpha chapters around the country to discuss things such as national bylaws, changes, and their new member programs. Altogether the sisters made around $600.00. The event was so successful that the sisters actually ran out of ingredients, and ended up digging into their individual food supplies to try to make the event last longer.
This event was an old event, revived by one of the sisters. As well as it was received, the sisters hope to hold it again next semester, with enough ingredients to meet the unexpectedly high demand for toast from the Stevens community.
