Well, the first Thursday of the semester has been cancelled due to snow. I guess it’s just a matter of time before classes become so far behind that the days off will cease to be enjoyable and begin being actual problems. Oh wait, that happened already.
The Wednesday night Design II course that I am a TA for had its second class ever last week. They are so far behind that the professor assigned part of the class work as homework, and next week’s class will contain elements of both week four and week five assignments. After that class, they should hopefully be only one week behind.
Classes are all over the place, and it’s getting harder and harder to figure out just where in their respective syllabi each class is currently sitting. One of my professors even turned his class into a webinar when he found out Thursday classes were cancelled. Another one of my Monday professors has only seen his class twice, and his teaching speed turned out slower than he anticipated, so we’re actually in Week 1.5 when we should be on week four. This isn’t even mentioning the afternoon classes that got cancelled when the morning classes didn’t, which I am sure is only leading to further confusion.
As the snow falls outside, I’m slowly giving up on the idea that I’ll actually understand anything that’s happening this semester. I’ve decided to just roll with it from now on, and do things as they come up. It may not be the best strategy, but it sure seems easier than actually figuring out what “week” each of my classes is on.
