SCSC hosts “Git Together” to teach Git

The Stevens Computer Science Club (SCSC) hosted an event on the night of Wednesday, Oct. 26 in EAS 222 to demonstrate what can be done with Git, the version control system. Git is a popular tool that allows users to maintain code quite easily, with the ability to rollback any bad updates and allow a team to code together.

SCSC gave a walkthrough of the various features of Git and assigned interactive learning tasks, which the attendees performed on their computers. “It’s not a lesson, it’s like a showcase,” said Jason Gardella, the President of SCSC, who also hosted the walkthrough. “It [Git] is kind of a hard thing to teach, because you have to keep using it to learn it.”

There are similar events planned this Fall by SCSC, with the goal being to educate the computer science community about popular CS industry tools.
