R.A.G.E. lives on: parade next Wednesday, finale set for October 17

Heightened preparations for Hurricane Joaquin and lost Assassins information and point totals effectively halted the Red and Grey Experience’s momentum, full-stop. With Joaquin’s passing and the restoration of R.A.G.E.’s database, R.A.G.E. is set to restart its momentum again with a parade, TechFest, and the event’s finale: R.A.G.E. Night.

“We realize two weeks [in between R.A.G.E. events] is a long time,” said Gear & Triangle Spirit Chair Sean Dirscherl. “We weren’t going to throw two weeks of events on short notice.” Instead, R.A.G.E.’s planning committee will fill the gap with a campus-wide parade on Wednesday, October 14 at 2 p.m. The parade will feature R.A.G.E. shirt distribution, Stevens celebrities such as Pearl, and a marching band of students ready to play the Stevens fight song, “Old Stone Mill”. The parade will begin at the Howe Center and end with a celebration on Walker Patio and Davis Lawn. “I’m very much hoping that [Captain] Maggi will want to parade his new motorcycle,” said Dirscherl.

Once TechFest concludes on Friday night, October 16, campus will be buzzing with several home games for the Ducks on Saturday, October 17, including men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming, women’s soccer, and field hockey, starting at 11 a.m. Amid the Ducks’ “home tour” will be a tailgate on campus hosted by the Campus Life Committee at 1:30 p.m. on Schaefer Lawn. The tailgate will be another contributor to what should be a spirit-filled day on campus. “That kind of energy is going to continue into R.A.G.E. Night,” said Dirscherl.

R.A.G.E. Night will begin with a pre-festivities kick-off event at 4 p.m. on October 17, in a location to be determined. There students can decorate banners, and even their Assassins bandanas if they haven’t been eliminated. For those Assassins still “alive,” Dirscherl confirmed that the event will culminate during R.A.G.E. Night in the Canavan Arena, but could not provide any further details. Doors open at 6 p.m. and R.A.G.E Night begins at 7 p.m., featuring a campus-wide pep rally environment, a couple of performances, and several different games to be announced. “There will be a lot of competition going on, a lot of excitement,” said Dirscherl. “More giveaways, snacks, [and] fun times.”

R.A.G.E. Night will conclude with the Stevens’ Computer and Console Gaming Society (C2GS) “after party,” the Epic LAN, which starts at 9 p.m.
